I fenced at Toronto fencing club. They're mostly pommellers, apparently the training mostly switched to pommel about 4 or 5 years ago. Someone gave me two Italian handles, one of which I really like, but I still need a better pommel for it, and I think the Russian one was better. He told me that if you use the Leon Paul plastic ones, you break a lot of tangs. I said, "Funny you should say that..." but it didn't matter since Leon Paul replaced that blade for me.

They're rather good, but like the Israelis, they couldn't deal with my remise around their quarte parry. Their distance was too good to let me use that as an attack, but it did prevent people from using a quarte opposition attack on me.

The biggest challenge was having to set up the distance so much more precisely because of not having the four-inch advantage. I will try to work on that more.

I'm in San Francisco now.
