I would like to know the grammatical difference between "He saw me leave" and "He saw me leaving." I think the main verb distinguishes between a progressive or continuous action and a simple action. Does "saw" count as an auxiliary verb?

More interestingly, are there dialects which prefer one over the other? As a speaker of relatively BBC RP, I would say "he had me leave" as a causative alternative to "made me leave" but I can't quite make my mind up over the cases above.
