It's been about 8 years since I last used C++, and the language has changed somewhat in that time. I've discovered that I rather like boost, although some of the ways it handles threading and memory management aren't the first way I'd think of doing it. On the whole, if it weren't for the fact that I need REALLY, INCREDIBLY tight control over memory in this application, I'd still use Java. It's not like C++ gives much other performance benefit, these days.
