<Shevek> why do people care more about hair than about a dynamic linker?
<AndrewH> women?
<Phelyan> dynamic linkers don't get you laid

World never changes. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

because most people have hair but a lot of us wouldn't know what a dynamic linker was even if it bit us on the nose (in my world a linker is a sort of sewing-machine-thingy for joining machine-knitted fabrics together)

I know what hair is. I'm distinctly hazy on dynamic linkers...

What she said. I wouldn't know how to define a dynamic linker (other than, erm, it's dynamic and links things).

Actually it links dynamic things - if it were dynamic itself it would run the severe risk of disappearing up its own arse!

I've never done any pure CS or compiler code, so I've got the barest overview of what a DL does - I did read in passing that someone at Google had put a new linker into the GCC project recently though.

Hair? I'll do something eventually. :-)

Because on average more people have hair than a dynamic linker?

Because there are hair products which do what they say on the tin :)

I would care about a dynamic linker if I knew what it was!

Because hair has more directly useful perv applications! At least I assume so, but if you have rude uses for dynamic linkers, feel free to enlighten me.

Dynamic linkers are useful for plug-ins, and if you don't think plug-ins are rude enough, maybe someone will come up with something better :-)
